A ceramic frying pan stands out for one thing above all else: it’s extremely high scratch resistance. Some of these can also be used as induction cooker pans. This type of pan made a name for itself within a very short time. Mostly built of aluminum or steel, the reason they’re called by the name is merely because they have a ceramic coating. This enables optimal heat distribution right up to the edge of the pan and thus fries the food very evenly.

If you want much more than just one ceramic pan, this is your option. It is a complete kitchenware coated with ceramic and made of recycled aluminum core. All utensils are free of PFOA, lead, cadmium, and other elements that can cause harm to those who cook on them.
Thanks to its coating and color, this is our best non-stick ceramic frying pan. What does the non-stick coating do on ceramic pans? Due to the special coating, little or no food residues stick to the bottom of the pan when frying. This makes it easier to remove the food to be fried, and the coating means that you only need a little fat or oil when frying.
You will have two pans of different sizes (seven and 10 inches) to make your different preparations. You also have a choice between seven colors – blue, soft pink, red, blue, burgundy, lavender, mint, and turquoise (the displayed product image). Whether meat, fried potatoes, sausages, meatballs, or fish – with this ceramic-coated pan, you can create the most delicious recipes.
Using it on low heat to fry egg, the egg will not stick. The pans are also easy to wash. The handle has a soft stay-cool plastic that is pleasant to the touch. They have good weight and feel solid. The price is comparable to those of Teflon, but they are of better quality. Another advantage is that both pans are slightly higher than normal.
What we liked: Thanks to the ceramic coating, you need very little oil or fat for frying. Also, according to the manufacturer, the pan is heat-resistant up to 350°F in the oven. It’s our best ceramic non-stick frying pan.
What could be better: One of the few disadvantages is that the 7″ pan feels small. Usually, small pans are 20cm (8″). The first uses worked perfectly. However, as time passed, they started to stick.
The Blue Diamond Frying Pan is a single frying pan with ceramic diamond-infused coating and aluminum core. Available in two colors – dark blue and black diamond – you have a choice between multiple sizes. The pan has a diameter of 12 inches but is also available in a diameter of 8, 10, and 11 inches. It has a simple, no-frills design. And with the steel handle, you not only have the pan comfortably in your hand and on the stovetop. You can also put the frying pan in the oven. But be careful with it. It can burn your hands when too hot. The pan is ovenproof up to a temperature of 850° degrees Fahrenheit. The Blue Diamond ceramic pan can be used on all types of stoves, excluding induction hobs.
The large ceramic frying pan is sealed inside and out with the ceramic seal, while the base of this ceramic pan is made of extra-hard light metal. With the ceramic pan, you can roast meat, seafood, fry food until it’s crispy. You can also use it to make stew.
What we liked: We like how resistant to heat the ceramic nonstick frying pan is. It is more than twice resistant to the GreenLife Frypan Set. The 12-inch ceramic frying pan is also wide enough for any type of frying.
What could be better: Could be better with a cover lid. The handle could be made of more ergonomic material that will not heat up. The aluminum handle is dangerous.
Sold for a lower price, the Michelangelo frying pan is everything the Blue Diamond fails at. First, this pan can be used on all types of stovetops, including induction hobs. It has a transparent lid with a handle. This pan has two handles, a long one on the side of the pan and another for opening and closing the lid. However, like the Blue Diamond frying pan, this ceramic frying pan has handles entirely made of aluminum. This is known for heating up very quickly. However, the surface has a nonstick coating and is easy to clean.
The frying pan is made of four different materials. These include aluminum alloy for the base and the handles, tempered glass for the lid, ceramic, and titanium as the coating material – all these in an under 30 pan. That’s not all, the frying pan has a magnetic conduction base that ensures it balances unshaken on metal cooktops. The cookware conserves energy well and can be used on an electric, gas, glass, or ceramic cooktop.
What we liked: We like how fast and even the frying pan heats. It not only has a lid, but this is made of see-through tempered glass. We also like the fact that it can be used on all types of cooktops.
What could be better: The pan’s handling system which is made of aluminum could be more ergonomic and safer.
The ceramic frying pan set from Cooker King is a 3-piece set. Included in this set is an 8-inch pan, a 10-inch pan, and a 12-inch pan. Each frying pan has a core made of aluminum, a scratch-resistant exterior, and a ceramic nonstick interior.
Although it’s not safe for use on an induction hob, you can use it for cooking on gas, halogen, electric, or ceramic cooktop. Each pan has a hard and durable exterior and bottom which makes it resistant to the oven temperature for up to 480°F.
Frying with these pans is completely healthy. The pans are guaranteed to release no cadmium, PFOA, or PFAS. The nonstick interior is durable and made of white ceramic so you can naturally observe how your food cooks. These frying pans are easy to clean, do not blister, chip off, or tarnish. The handles are made of aluminum. You can use the skillets to make anything from omelet to steak grilling.
What we liked: We like the design of the interior and exterior surfaces. They’re scratch-resistant but with proper maintenance, they can give you great value for money over the years.
What could be better: A stay-cool soft plastic, instead of aluminum in the handles could have been better and safer. Also, there are no lids.
The T Fal ceramic frying pan has an extra-hard and scratch-resistant ceramic seal, which should enable you to turn your food with metal kitchen utensils.
The pan is part of the “T-Fal” series – an exclusive series that is intended for the catering trade and therefore has high-quality features.
You get the ceramic pan product in a set of two, one with a diameter of 8.6 inches and another with a diameter of 10.5 inches. Liquids or fat residues can be easily poured out. The pan has a ceramic seal on the inside and outside. The ceramic coating ensures ideal heat distribution and plan stability.
The handle of the Tefal T-fal Scratch G917S264 ceramic pan is not only ergonomically shaped, but it is also made of part thermoplastic and part aluminum. The ceramic pan can handle temperatures in the oven of a maximum of 350 degrees Fahrenheit. On the cooktop, it can withstand temperature up to 570 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use the pan on all types of stoves, including induction stoves. Do you like to fry foods till they turn crispy without a lot of fat? You can do that with this Tefal frying pan. Another advantage: the product is dishwasher safe and can therefore also be cleaned in the dishwasher.
What we liked: Having a combination of plastic and aluminum in the handles makes these pans very ergonomic and safe to use. We also like the shape and size of the set of pans.
What could be better: The nonstick coating isn’t effective for a long-time. At first use, in the first months, they tend to be nonstick, however, there are reports from users of the pans losing this quality after some time.
This pan comes from the Gotham brand. The ceramic high-rim pan has a core of aluminum and a ceramic coating. Compared to other frying pan models, this single square frying pan has a slightly higher rim. It has 25% more cooking space than other conventional frying pans.
What advantage does a higher rim have on a ceramic pan? On the one hand, you can cook larger quantities of food in it and, on the other hand, the high rim means less fat splashes on the stove. The pan with handle is heat-resistant up to a temperature of 500 degrees Fahrenheit. This is why you can also use the pans for flambéing, as it can withstand high levels of heat. You can use the pans on all common types of stoves.
The coating of the ceramic pan is a double coating, both inside and outside. It’s a combination of slick ceramic and a strong infusion of titanium. The coating on the inside of the pan means that food can be fried and roasted with almost no fat or oil, and the food does not adhere to it. For this reason, the ceramic frying pan is also suitable for searing meat, fish, and other foods. It is very versatile that it can also be used for baking, broiling, sautéing, frying, braising, steaming, and much more. Due to the beading effect, the coating stays as from the factory and does not discolor.
It should be mentioned that the double ceramic coating with the beading effect should make cleaning very easy. Also, according to the manufacturer, the pan from Gotham is dishwasher-safe.
What makes it special? We like the size and shape of the ceramic square frying pan. The rim is high and will protect your cooktop.
What cons did we find? A big downside is that the handle is made of aluminum. This means that there is a risk of getting burned on the handles when using the pan on the stove.
The DaTerra Cucina Ceramic is a single Italian pan with an ergonomic silicone handle and a transparent glass cover. It’s a ceramic pan with a thermal handle and free of harmful substances. The pan from DaTerra is an aluminum pan with a ceramic coating. Due to the material used, the pan is rust-free and, according to the manufacturer, very robust overall. The non-stick ceramic coating on the inside of the pan is supposed to give the product a high level of heat resistance, is wear-resistant, and scratch-free. You can use the ceramic pan for all types of stoves, including the induction hob.
It has a multi-layer, scratch-resistant, and ceramic-reinforced non-stick coating, which is often used on ceramic pans. The floor structure, which consists of extra-hard aluminum and ceramic, ensures ideal heat distribution. This combination should give you quick and energy-saving heating and very good heat distribution during roasting. Due to the coating, you need relatively little fat, but still, get crispy food with the pan. The handle is made of heat-resistant hard silicone so that you can use the pan in the oven up to a temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit. And even at this high level of heat, the coating should not emit any harmful substances, as can be the case with some other ceramic pans and their coatings.
What we liked: Not many models of frying pans can combine ergonomic, safe to handle plastic and silicone handles with high heat resistance. But this is what you get with this frying pan. Also, it is a ceramic frying pan with lid made of glass for monitoring without opening.
What could be better: The ceramic coating is not durable enough to remain nonstick for long.
The ZWILLING Spirit is a 14 inch ceramic frying pan. It is made of a strong durable aluminum core with stainless steel color and a coating of ceramic. It’s a single pan but it is available in two sizes – 12 inches and 14 inches with little price difference. What distinguishes this pan from others on the market is its long diameter and the integrated loop handle, in addition to a long handle.
In contrast to some other ceramic pans, this one from Zwilling is dishwasher-safe. However, it’s always better to clean pans with coatings by hand to ensure longer service life.
In the product description, the manufacturer points out that the ceramic pan is PFOA and PTFE-free. What does PFOA and PTFE-free mean for the ceramic pan? PFOA is the abbreviation for perfluorooctanoic acid, a hazardous substance that is used in many cases to produce non-stick coatings on saucepans and pans. PTFE is an emulsifier that was used in previous years to manufacture non-stick coatings. However, PTFE should no longer be used since 2017. You can read more about these pollutants in our guide.
What we liked: We like the loop handle and the longer handle of the frying pan. Although they are made of aluminum core, the manufacturer claims they are stay-cool handles.
What negatives must you be aware of? As is with many other ceramic pans, the non-stick coating wears out very fast.
This product from Chantal is a two-piece pan set made of a core of Japanese 21 stainless steel. They consist of multiple layers of coating and without the allergen, nickel. This coating consists of titanium infused and ceramic materials.
The diameters of the individual pans are eight inches for the little one and 10 inches for the large pan. With the ceramic pan set from Chantal, you can choose the pan size you need. The manufacturer uses stainless steel to manufacture the ceramic pans, which means that the pans are rust-free, robust, and tasteless. And thanks to the ceramic non-stick coating, which looks very elegant, the pans are suitable for reduced-fat and therefore health-conscious cooking. Due to the coating, the food to be fried should stick much less to the bottom of the pan.
You can use the ceramic frying pan set for all common types of stoves such as gas, electric and ceramic stoves. The set is extremely energy-efficient to use thanks to the stainless steel pan base. With the soft-touch handles and the heat-resistant brushed coating on the handles, they should stay cool even during longer cooking times and there is hardly any risk of burns on hot handles.
What we liked: We like the brushed coating of the handles. This gives the handle some extent of resistance to the heat from the main pan. We also like the unique Japanese quality of the 21 stainless steel.
What could be better: The nonstick surface is not effective for long.
The Ballarini Tropea Veggie Fry Pan has the best design of all the fry pans in this review. Available in a choice of two sizes – 9.5 inches and 11 inches – the frying pan is made of a core of cold-forged aluminum and a coating of ceramic. The cold forging of the aluminum makes the pan heat evenly. The pan also includes the Bakelite handle. This has an innovative sensor that I do atss when the handle is cold or hot. It, therefore, prevents undercooking and overcooking so you can save energy.
To ensure that you can enjoy the pans for a long time, you should only clean them with mild detergents and a soft cloth. You should avoid harsh cleaning agents, sharp-edged or pointed cleaning devices, or objects with this ceramic pan. Although the manufacturer says it is dishwasher safe. However, not cleaning in the dishwasher can help extend the life and beauty of the pan. In general, you should rinse pans thoroughly with hot water before using them for the first time.
Why did it make our list? We like the pristine white color of the frying pan and the curvy style of the Bakelite handle. We also like the Thermopoint technology which indicates when the pan is cool for handling and hot for cooking.
What could be better: White color might not be suitable for everyone.
This is the last on the list of our best ceramic coated frying pan. With this product, we introduce you to another pan with ceramic coating from the manufacturer Culinary Edge. The pan has a diameter of 12 inches and is available in other smaller sizes.
The Culinary Edge ceramic pan is made of rustproof toughened steel with copper-infused titanium and ceramic non-stick coating. According to the manufacturer, this offers you excellent non-stick properties, even if you only add a little or no oil or fat to the pan. The coating is therefore extremely heat-resistant and can withstand high temperature. Even at this heat, the titanium ceramic frying pan should not give off any harmful substances.
The base enables you to use the pan on all types of hobs. The bottom of the pan is designed so that the heat is evenly distributed and the heat is stored for a long time. You can use the ceramic pan on ceramic stoves, electric cookers, gas stoves, but not on induction cookers. It offers you plenty of space to conjure up delicious roasting delights with meat, fish, or vegetables. When it comes to cleaning, the manufacturer doesn’t recommend washing it in the dishwasher. You should only wash the ceramic pan by hand.
What we liked: You can put the ceramic coated frying pan in the oven to continue cooking steaks, for example. The handle is made of steel and it allows this.
What could be better: It could be better if it includes a lid and if it’s safe for the dishwasher.
Things to Consider
Before rushing to buy your ceramic pan, you must take into account certain factors that will make the product you choose the one you really need. Having seen the ceramic frying pan reviews, we leave you all the information you need to know about it.
What are ceramic pans?
The ceramic pan is a frying pan with which you can fry meat, fish, vegetables, eggs, and other foods until they are crispy. The structure does not differ from other pans that are offered on the market.
The name may suggest that this pan is made of ceramic. However, the ceramic pans only have a ceramic coating – the pans are made of stainless steel or aluminum.
Ceramic pans consist of:
The pan body made of stainless steel or aluminum
The bottom of the pan
The pan handle
The non-stick coating
This is what distinguishes the ceramic pan
As already mentioned, the ceramic pan is by no means made entirely of ceramic, but of stainless steel or aluminum. It is called a ceramic pan due to the ceramic coating. One of the most striking properties of the ceramic pan is that it can heat significantly higher than Teflon frying pans with a plastic non-stick coating. Good ceramic pans are also characterized by the following properties:
Very good thermal conductivity
Good heat storage
High heat resistance, depending on the pan up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit
Relatively fat-free roasting and cooking possible
Some are suitable for induction cookers
Most of the ceramic pans offered are PFOA and PFTE-free due to the ceramic coating. They are free from harmful substances and toxins. The coating is produced without chemicals or plastics.
Since the ceramic pans can cope with a high heat load, they are also suitable for roasting or continuing to cook in the oven. Here, the temperatures can be between 350 and 850 degrees Fahrenheit. It depends here on whether the handle is made of silicon, plastic, aluminum, or steel or whether it remains on the pan or is removable. The pans with removable handles can withstand higher temperatures than the pans with a fixed handle. When using the ceramic pans in the oven, you should pay attention to the maximum heat load you can expose the pan to.
The pros and cons of ceramic pans
In the previous section, you learned what makes a good ceramic pan. In principle, these are also the advantages that this type of pan offers you. But such pans also have their disadvantages.
Very good heat distribution and heat storage
Very high heat resistance
Usually suitable for induction cookers
Versatile in use
Has non-stick properties
Does not contain PFOA or PTFE
Most offer a multi-year warranty
They are easy to clean
You will find different sizes
Discoloration of the coating possible
The nonstick coating are often not lasting
Compared to Teflon pans, it is more expensive to buy
Features to consider when choosing a ceramic frying pan
Before you aimlessly buy any ceramic pan, you should take a look at the following points in our guide and get detailed information. It’s not just about the right size and number in the set. You can recognize a good ceramic frying pan by these properties:
Generally, the surface is mainly made of ceramic (especially that which will come into contact with food). This can however have infusions of other metal properties such as titanium. You can find this property in the Chantal Fry Pan and the Culinary Edge Fry Pan.
The base that receives heat directly from the burner is usually made of metals such as aluminum or stainless steel. Alternatively, some models can have a core of the metal. This is for better heat conduction.
Aluminum base/core: Ceramic pans use aluminum as a base to achieve a perfectly even heat distribution. So, your food can cook in the same way, regardless of the space they occupy in your pan. It is important to give them special care to prevent them from rusting. These are usually highly durable and make your skillet much lighter than those with a stainless steel base. Their price is usually medium, always depending on their brand and size, so you can choose one without problems.
Stainless steel base/core: If your ceramic skillet has a stainless steel base, it can guarantee you many years of useful life and even pass it on to other generations if you give it optimal care. This is thanks to its high resistance to damage and deformation, and its ability to prevent oxidation. For this reason, their price is usually a little higher than that of aluminum-based pans. In terms of their weight, they are usually a bit more robust. They have good heat distribution, but not as effective as that achieved by aluminum. However, stainless steel ceramic pans have better durability with better warranty coverage. For example, the Chantal Fry Pan made of 21 stainless steel comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
It’s not possible
Medium – high
Number in the set
Depending on what you need in your kitchen, you can choose from individual ceramic pans, multiple, or complete kitchen kits. We are going to define what you can find in each of them so that you know which one is more convenient for you.
Single: If you only need a ceramic pan and you know the size that suits you best, you can choose this option. This is the most economical and direct. Make sure that the size you choose is ideal for the number of people who live in your home, as well as a comfortable weight for the person (or people) who use it. Single ceramic pans let you choose the right size and color. They are usually available in various sizes, which can be 8, 10, 11, 12, or 14 inches in diameter. Good examples are the MICHELANGELO Frying Pan and the Blue Diamond Fry Pan.
Multiple. If you do not know exactly the size you need or prefer more than one ceramic pan for different uses (one for meats and one for pancakes, for example), you can choose the duo or trio sets. They tend to have different sizes so you can differentiate them depending on what you cook in them. COOKER KING Ceramic Frying Pan Set is a good example of a 3-piece set. GreenLife Frypan Set and the T-fal Scratch G917S264 are good two-piece sets.
Kits. If you are just equipping your kitchen space or want to change your kitchenware, you can opt for complete kits. These not only include fry pans, but also pots, kettles, and other utensils that have a ceramic coating.
The size of your frying pan will be a very important criterion. This is because the type of food we cook will depend on this. And the best thing is when you have more varieties that you can choose from.
Small pans. There are compact pans that can measure about eight inches in diameter for cooking small individual dishes, such as pancakes or a scrambled egg. In case you need to transport them or you have little space, this is the ideal option. Also, it will be the best for your children to begin to become familiar with the kitchen.
Medium: You can find models of 8.5 to 10.5 inches that allow you to expand the preparations in them. They’re suitable for dishes such as pancakes and sauteed vegetables. You can also prepare meats in them when you have a small kitchen with few burners, so as not to cover more than one at the time of use.
Big: If there are many guests at the table, use this option. Large pans will allow you to comfortably cook your meats. You can even add extra ingredients like potatoes, sauces, veggies, and more. Use it especially when the size of your kitchen and burners allows it. Like the ZWILLING Spirit or the Culinary Edge Fry Pan, they can measure up to 12 or 14 inches.
If you have a lot of variety in your home kitchen, we recommend buying a ceramic pan set. This contains various sizes and also includes a ceramic pot. So you will always have the right pan in the house, regardless of whether you want to use it as a frying pan, a steak pan, or even a pancake pan.
The weight of ceramic pans can vary depending on the size you choose and the material with which the base of these is made of. Here we show you approximately the weight that each of them can have (without food yet).
Lightweight: Smaller ceramic pans can weigh as little as 150 to 200 grams, especially when their base is made of aluminum. This option is the best for transport and for your children to start creating in the kitchen under your supervision.
Medium weight: When the pans are medium, the weight will also rise a bit. You can find models from 500 grams to 700 grams, depending on the material that comes with the base. These are the most recommended for beginners in the kitchen and those who live alone or with one other person.
Heavy: The most robust pans may weigh 1 kilogram or a little more. This depends on the thickness of the piece and the accompanying materials. Use it only when you need to cook for many people and when you have skill in the kitchen, to avoid making it an awkward process.
Form and color
The form and color of a frying pan are mostly an aesthetic than functional criterion. Perhaps you don’t want your kitchenware to have a jumble of color, you may look at the dominant color of your kitchen utensils before choosing a ceramic frying pan. However, whichever color you choose, ceramic pans are always sleek and beautiful, thanks to their smooth ceramic finish.
As for the forms, you have a choice between square and round. Round is the most dominant shape on the market and is most decorative. However, choose a square pan if you want a voluminous pan with a high rim.
Handle and lid
Removable or fixed: The handles of some ceramic pans can be partially removable. This offers you the advantage that on the one hand you can stow and stack the pan better in the cupboard. And, on the other hand, it is easier to use in the oven. And cleaning is also a little easier.
Material of handle: The handle of most pans is ergonomically shaped and covered with silicone to guarantee you the best possible grip. Also, the handles with silicone as in the DaTerra Cucina Ceramic get less hot than handles made of stainless steel or aluminum such as the Gotham Steel Pan Ti Cerama.
Type of handle: Most ceramic pans come with a long handle. Some also have handles that are attached to the sides like the ZWILLING Spirit and thus resemble a ceramic pot. Ideally, these are curved or ergonomically shaped to give you the best possible hold.
Dishwasher safety is a common term in kitchenware. Dishwasher safe kitchenware are often better than those which are not because this is a guarantee of the reliability of the materials. However, even if they are dishwasher safe, we recommend manual cleaning or not frequently washing it in the dishwasher every time. Otherwise, the durability of the pan could be affected. Many manufacturers point out in their product descriptions that washing by hand can extend the life of a ceramic pan.
Usually, important kitchen items (such as pans, pots, and others included in kitchenware) have a guarantee, especially when it is coming from a recognized brand. However, many others do not have a system that allows you to protect your investment in case of manufacturing defects or dissatisfaction.
Most of them will have a warranty covering manufacturing defects for the first few days after purchase. However, others will have 1 year, 5 years, and up to 10 years of ideal performance warranty. It is important to know this information to know what actions you can take with your product in case of damage. Another warranty policy to watch out for is the money-back guarantee. This can range from 30 days to 365 days, as is the case with the DaTerra Cucina Ceramic.
Additional features, such as the temperature display integrated into the bottom of the pan, offer you nice advantages. Using the temperature meter, you can see immediately when your pan has reached the perfect frying temperature.
Ceramic pans with a pouring rim offer you a very good opportunity to pour liquids out of the pan without any problems.
The coating of the ceramic pans, even if it is said to be scratch-resistant, should be handled with care. With the right cleaning and care, you can ensure the pan has a long life. This is the easiest way to clean the glass-ceramic pans:
You can remove lighter residues with a piece of kitchen paper or a soft, slightly damp cloth.
More stubborn dirt can be removed with a soft sponge, hot water, and a mild cleaning agent.
Again, if many manufacturers declare their pan as dishwasher-safe, washing the ceramic pan by hand is far gentler than cleaning it in the dishwasher. The dishwasher detergents are often quite aggressive and can attack the ceramic coating.also, the acids in various flush tabs are real coating killers.
You can increase the life of the ceramic coating by wiping the pan with a piece of paper towel and a few drops of oil after cleaning it.
Yes, most ceramic pans can be used in the oven. However, we advise that you check the product manual or product description to confirm if this is possible as the manufacturer will most likely state it if the pan is oven-safe.
Most ceramic pans don’t require seasoning, except the manufacturer states otherwise. To season your pan, apply oil on the surface, heat it on the cooktop, let it cool, wipe off the oil, and repeat regularly.
Ceramic pans can look so sleek, shiny, and advertised as scratch-free or scratch resistant. However, you still have to protect the surface and be careful when you use metals on it. This is because they are very prone to scratches especially when objects such as forks, knives, others are used.
Most ceramic pans can be used on electric, gas, glass, and induction hobs. However, many manufacturers warn against the use on induction hobs.
Ceramic frying pans are a must for the modern kitchen because of its many advantages. Are you ready to purchase one? Take a look at our final verdict.
