The NordicTrack Commercial Series 2950 treadmill is our Editor’s Choice as it has a 22” HD interactive touchscreen display and a 30-day iFIT family membership with Google Maps™ workout technology that will entertain you while you work out. Its 4 Horsepower motor can reach speeds of up to 12 mph and work without a stop for long hours. With an impressive incline range of -3% to 15%, you can customize your workouts to target different muscle groups. Plus, its running belt has a perfect size of 60 x 20 in., wide enough to give you a comfortable run. Its frame is large, stable, and cushioned to protect your joints. The NordicTrack Commercial Series 2950 treadmill is an upgrade to the NordicTrack Commercial Series 1750 treadmill, which is available for a few hundred dollars less. Best Lightweight

3G Cardio Pro Runner

Features
  • Motor power: 3 HP
  • Running surface: 58 x 20.5 in.
  • Max user weight: 350 lbs.
  • Speed range: 0-12 mph
  • Incline: 0-15%
  • Workouts: 8 built-in and 2 custom programs

More features: 5-year parts, and 1-year in-home labor warranty, fan, heart rate interactive

The 3G Cardio Pro Runner Treadmill is the Best Lightweight option for the best commercial treadmills, weighing only 216 lbs. Having this little weight doesn’t make it any less durable or robust though. The Pro Runner has a huge weight capacity of 350 lbs. and a wide 58 x 20.5 in. running belt to accommodate almost all body types. Plus, the deck is orthopedic and the cushioning is incredible, so your knees and ankles will stay safe. And Its motor features 3 HP of power, which is plenty for running or walking at speeds of up to 12 mph. You can choose from 8 built-in and 2 custom programs in just one click to change up your workout or use the incline function to give your legs an extra challenge.

Both this model and the 3G Cardio Elite Runner Treadmill are from the same manufacturer. Of course, if you’re more limited in space or funds, you’d be better off with this 3G Cardio Pro Runner model since it’s lighter and can easily be moved into storage, not to mention cheaper. However, you do make a few sacrifices, such as with the power in the motor with the Elite Runner treadmill having a 4HP motor while this model offers 3 HP. That said, both should be fine as exercise machines in our opinion.

    What makes it special?
  • Just enough power for commercial use;
  • Orthopedic belt;
  • Accurate heart rate interactive monitoring;
  • Quick one-touch speed and incline;
  • Works quietly;
  • Foldable;
  • Quick and easy to assemble.
    What cons did we find?
  • Too small gadget holders;
  • No cooldown option.

It provides a natural run and burns up to 30% more calories than you get from traditional motorized treadmills. All you have to do is to walk, jog or run on it at your own pace without having to worry about the speed. The best part is that there is no minimum or maximum speed limit! Moreover, manual means that no power is required to use the treadmill, so you’ll save on your electricity bill as well. The Health Runner has a space-saving design and can be easily folded and stored away. It also comes with transport wheels and requires no outlet, so you can move it around the house or to the office with ease.

Compared to the rest of the list, this is the only manual treadmill listed since it doesn’t come with a motor. As such, we noticed you’ll set the pace for how fast you go. The fact that it doesn’t have a motor also means it can hold more weight than others listed hence the 400 lbs weight limit. It should also be available for cheaper, but its sturdy frame justifies the price.

Things to Consider

A commercial treadmill is one type of equipment that you’ll need to consider if you’re starting or expanding a business that offers fitness classes or training sessions. Such models are usually more powerful and sturdy than home treadmills and can accommodate users of different sizes and weights. Plus, they provide speed and incline settings that can be easily adjusted to suit the needs of different users.

How a Commercial Treadmill Special?

A commercial treadmill compared to a home treadmill has several advantages.

-The first advantage is that commercial treadmills are built to be much more durable. They usually have a steel frame instead of aluminum like most home treadmills. This steel frame can support more weight and the motor is also bigger and more powerful, at least 3HP.

-Second, commercial treadmills have a longer warranty than home treadmills. This is because they are made to be used more often and for longer periods of time.

-Third, commercial treadmills usually have more features than home treadmills. For example, they might have a huge HD display, a wireless internet connection, or a built-in fan.

-Forth, commercial treadmills are usually more expensive than home treadmills. However, the price is justified because of their durability and extra features.

Manual Treadmills vs. Motorized Treadmills

The first important decision you need to make when choosing a treadmill is whether you want a manual or a motorized model. Manual treadmills are cheaper and lighter, which makes them more portable, but they also require more effort from the user.

Motorized treadmills offer an easier training experience and are equipped with many different functions, but they are usually larger and heavier than manual models.

Manual treadmills do not have a motor and derive their power from running. As a rule, they do not have a control panel or display, since they are designed for manual use. This means that you will not receive the same information about your training as with a motorized model and that you will have to record your training pace on paper if desired.

Another consideration is the price. Manual treadmills are generally cheaper than motorized ones because less technique is required to make them suitable for training purposes (even if some people find it easier). Some models are also foldable, so they take up less space when not in use – but even this is not always true! The main advantage is portability – these models are easily transported, which is very convenient if you have little space.

Motorized treadmills have a motor that drives the belt and ensures that it moves at a steady speed, regardless of how fast or slow you walk or run on it. This means that they have to do less work, which makes them ideal for people who are running or exercising for the first time. They usually have a variety of features, such as different incline levels and built-in programs, so you can vary your training program as you like. In addition, the control panel and the treadmill screen will give you more information about your training, which can motivate you to try harder every time.

The biggest disadvantage of motorized treadmills is that they are often larger and heavier than manual models, which makes them harder to move. In addition, they are usually more expensive, although this varies depending on the equipment.

Motor Power

The motor power of a treadmill is measured in horsepower (HP) and can be sorted into three different rating systems. The most important factor to consider when choosing a treadmill is its intended use.

Look at this first. If the treadmill will be primarily used for:

  • walking – a 2.0 HP continuous duty motor will suffice;
  • jogging, a minimum of 2.5 HP continuous duty is recommended;
  • running, a 3.0 HP continuous duty or higher is ideal.

If you wanna primarily focus on walking, consider checking out our compilation of the best treadmills for walking.

Then check out the price. Cheaper prices indicate that the product is made of low-quality components. Don’t be fooled by low costs alone. A motor in a treadmill that originally cost $1000 or more is likely to be durable. Models that are less expensive are unlikely to have a dependable engine installed.

And of course, consider the weight of users. It is also important to consider the weight of the users when selecting a treadmill.

If any of the users weigh over 200 pounds, it is recommended to increase the HP by 0.5 for proper support.

When assessing commercial treadmills, be sure to choose treadmills that can serve the needs and sizes of all users.

Running Belt

Treadmill belts come in a variety of widths, ranging from 16 to 22 inches. In general, 20” is enough wide for most people. For smaller folks, 16” is just enough to walk on, while 18” is large enough for running. People who are taller than the typical 22″ may need a treadmill belt that is larger than this.

For commercial usage, it’s better to choose treadmills with belts of at least 20” wide and at most 22″. That way, you can be sure that they will accommodate the vast majority of people. Anything narrower than 20” may cause discomfort for some users, while anything wider than 22” is unnecessary and makes the treadmill unnecessarily large.

Plus, at the gym people can come up with different training styles, for instance, for High-Intensity Internal Training (HIIT) it’s better to have a bigger belt so the person can be sure they can run at full speed.

The length of the treadmill belt is determined by users’ height and whether they want to run or simply walk on it. To run on a treadmill, people up to about 5’10” tall require a 55″ long belt. A 60″ long belt is preferable for people taller than 5’10.

So 58-62 inches are more than enough for people to run on the treadmill without feeling restricted.

Maximum User Weight

9 Best Commercial Treadmills: Run Your Business with Ease
Most commercial treadmills have a weight capacity that is significantly higher than home models, making them ideal for heavier users.

The weight capacity of a commercial treadmill is an important consideration for any business. After all, the last thing you want is for your customers to be unable to use your equipment because it can’t support their weight.

Luckily, there are plenty of high-quality commercial treadmills on the market that can accommodate users of all sizes and weights. On our list, you’ll find treadmills with a weight capacity from 300 up to 400 pounds.

If you’re searching for a treadmill to accommodate all sizes, it’s worth reading about the best treadmills with the 400 lb weight capacity.

Deck Cushioning

The deck cushioning is a key feature in terms of safety and comfort but there are models that don’t provide this option (not in our case). It’s better to avoid them as they can increase the risk of injuries, especially for beginners or people with joint problems.

A good deck cushioning will help to absorb impact and reduce stress on the joints.

Treadmills models can come with a range of cushioning technologies built into the running deck, from simple rubber shock absorbers to more complex systems.

The most advanced is the ability to provide focused cushioning when the foot strikes the belt while remaining sturdy and stiff at the rear so that you can push off with ease.

The shock absorption system within the deck is designed to reduce impact by using shock-absorbing components. For example, the Orthopedic Shock Absorption System is seven times softer than running on grass.

Speed Range

Most commercial treadmills will offer a speed range of at least 0.5 to 12 miles per hour (mph). If you have users of different fitness levels, look for a machine that offers a wide range of speeds. This way, everyone from beginners to experienced runners can use the treadmill at a pace that is comfortable for them.

Additionally, some commercial treadmills come with built-in programs that offer different speed intervals. These can be helpful if you want to add some variety to your workouts. Programs like these can also help you gradually increase your speed over time so that you can see continued progress in your fitness level.

Incline

9 Best Commercial Treadmills: Run Your Business with Ease
A steeper incline simulates outdoor running conditions more effectively.

A commercial treadmill typically has a much steeper incline than a home treadmill. This is because the main purpose of a commercial treadmill is to be used for running.

The best commercial treadmills will have an incline of 15% or more, which is significantly steeper than most home treadmills. This will give your customers a much better workout and help to burn more calories. If you’re looking for a treadmill with a higher incline, you can easily find them in our list of the best incline treadmills.

Workouts

Commercial treadmills usually also have some pre-set and customizable workouts, so you can switch up your routine and target different muscle groups. Pre-set programs are ideal for beginners or those who want a simple workout routine. Customizable programs, on the other hand, offer more flexibility and allow your customers to tailor their workouts to specific goals.

There are also some models that offer 30-da iFIT trials, so your customers can explore different workout options and find what works best for them. You can also offer discounts to those who sign up for long-term iFIT memberships.

Warranty

When it comes to choosing a commercial treadmill, be sure to consider the warranty carefully. It could be the difference between a stress-free experience and a costly headache down the road. Most commercial treadmills come with a warranty that covers the frame for a certain period of time, usually around 3-5 years. However, there are some companies that offer extended warranties for an additional cost. It’s important to read the fine print on any warranty before you purchase a treadmill so that you know exactly what is and is not covered.

The majority of treadmill warranties cover the motor for the machine for life. Obviously, you won’t be able to use your cardio trainer for 80 years, but if you can afford it, insist on a lifetime warranty. When a treadmill doesn’t include this guarantee, it indicates poor construction and the machine will break down eventually. You’ll be out of everything you spent purchasing the treadmill to keep it maintained.

A commercial treadmill is a big investment, so you want to make sure that it’s well-protected in case of any problems. A good warranty will give you peace of mind and allow you to focus on your business, rather than worrying about your treadmill.

Longevity and Steadiness

When you are looking for a treadmill for your commercial gym, you want something that is going to be durable and last for many years. You also want a machine that is going to be able to withstand the heavy use it will get from your clients.

The best commercial treadmills are made from heavy-duty materials. The frame should be made from steel or another similarly sturdy material like aluminum or steel. The deck should also be made from a durable material like vinyl or composite wood. The belt should be made from a high-quality fabric that is designed to withstand constant use.

Such machines usually weigh a lot (around 250-200 lbs.) and have a very low profile. This is to prevent them from tipping over when people are running on them at high speeds. The weight makes them harder to move around, but it also makes them more stable.

Plus, to ensure they last longer, they will be backed by a warranty from the manufacturer. This will protect you in case anything goes wrong with the machine.

Built-In Tracking Feature

An advanced commercial treadmill will have a built-in tracking feature that will keep tabs on the user’s progress. This is an important aspect to consider for monitoring fitness progress.

The tracking feature will also come in handy for users who are training for a race or marathon and wants to be able to see the progress over time. This feature will allow your customers to see how far they’ve run, how fast they’ve gone, and how many calories they’ve burned.

Some commercial treadmills also have a heart rate monitor that will keep track of your customers’ heart rate as they run. This is a valuable tool if they’re trying to stay within a certain heart rate range while they exercise.

The built-in tracking feature on a commercial treadmill can be a great way to motivate customers to keep running.

FAQ

How often should I lubricate my commercial treadmill?

It is recommended that you lubricate your treadmill once a month. This will help keep the belt moving smoothly and prevent it from getting damaged.

How many treadmills should my club have?

The number of treadmills in your club will ultimately depend on the size of your space and the number of members you have. However, as a general rule of thumb, it is recommended that you have one treadmill for every 50 members. This count is based on equipment check-out systems that clubs use to manage equipment availability. When all treadmills are in use, there’s usually a line for them. The goal is to keep wait time under five minutes during the busiest times. If your club is open 24 hours, you may want additional treadmills to accommodate the overnight crowd.

Some clubs like to offer a higher ratio of treadmills to members during peak usage times—and a lower ratio during slower times. They do this by using an “open space” concept that allows members to use any available cardio machine, even if it’s not a treadmill. The club may have 10 treadmills but 50 pieces of cardio equipment in the open space. This way, members don’t have to wait for a particular machine during busy times.

Of course, these are general guidelines. You know your members and their needs better than anyone.

What are some tips for setting up a commercial treadmill?

– Make sure you have enough space. A commercial treadmill is larger than a home model, so you need to make sure you have enough room for it.

– Place it on a level surface. This will ensure it doesn’t wobble or move around while in use.

– Make sure the area around it is clear. There should be no cords or other objects that someone could trip over.

– Follow the instructions in the manual. This will help you avoid any problems and ensure the treadmill is assembled correctly.

What are the benefits of using a commercial treadmill?

A commercial treadmill can give you a more challenging workout as it requires more effort to keep the belt moving. It is also backed by a warranty from the manufacturer, so you are protected if anything goes wrong with the machine. Additionally, some models come with extra features like an HD screen or built-in speakers.
