The “authenticity test” is one of the best things about this solid copper tea kettle. • Capacity: 2.4 liter
  • Dimensions: 9.8 x 5.5 x 9.5 inches, 1.8 lbs

More features: broad base; gas and electric stoves compatible; interior is lined with Nickel-Plating

The Old Dutch 887 is another brilliant option, and this copper tea pot was made in the USA, this helps the costs stay low as it hasn’t been imported from Europe or somewhere else. This is a great option for those who want a kettle not made in China.

The design is simple and it is definitely an elegant looking option, though it doesn’t have the same intricate engraving some of the best looking copper tea kettles offer.

It has a large capacity of 2.4 liters, this is plenty for most kitchen uses. The Nickel-Plating in the middle design is perfect for easy cleaning and means that the water inside stays tasting fresh with no reaction or tainting from the kettle.

  • Non-reactive nickel plating for easy cleaning in the center of the kettle
  • Big capacity
  • Excellent value and shipped from the USA

More features: hammered 1mm thick copper; wooden handle

The CopperBull Hammered Copper Tea Pot Kettle is on here as our budget pick. It still has plenty of quality to offer. It’s cheaper because it is pretty small, so if you are looking for a compact copper tea kettle then this could be worth considering. It has a 0.8 liter capacity which can be ideal for just two servings or possibly three servings of a hot drink.

Because this is compact, it obviously requires less storage space. Also, it will boil much more quickly. The copper gets hot, but luckily there is a wooden handle, which has a similar impact as a wooden spoon, it doesn’t get overly hot even when the rest of the kettle is warming up. This lowers any risk of burning yourself while using.

The Turkish copper is exceptional quality and 1mm thick, so you don’t have to worry about the quality and damage in the future. It should last many years with no issues.

    What makes it stand out?
  • Gets up to temperature quickly due to size
  • Safe to pick up with wooden handle
  • Quality turkish crafted copper with a hammered design
Which disadvantages must you keep in mind?
  • Not as large as others in terms of capacity, can’t boil huge amounts of water

  • Capacity: 1.7 liters
  • Dimensions: 10 x 8.5 x 8.5 inches, 49 lbs

More features: 1-year warranty; handmade; ebonized beech handle; whistling sound; tin embellishments; vintage design

What could be more English than a nice cup of tea! The Simplex Kettles Buckingham originates in England and has a beautiful handmade design with a nice vintage copper finish. This is an example of a design of whistling copper tea kettles, it makes the traditional whistling noise when it is ready so you know when the water is warm enough for your tea.

We’ve named it the best warranty tea kettle as it comes with a one year warranty, a lot of the copper kettles on the market don’t have any kind of warranty due to the fact they deal with food and drink, but in spite of being handmade, the Simplex model has one year of protection for your purchase.

The lovely embellishments make this an excellent looking kettle for your home, and it has a capacity of 1.7 liters. Not the biggest on the list, but fine for most peoples’ needs. This can make enough tea for a group of people.

What do we love it for?
  • Beautiful handmade design
  • Excellent quality copper with embellished finishes
  • Whistle sound to let you know when the water is hot
    What were we disappointed with?
  • One of the most expensive options out there due to its excellent handmade quality

Best Lightweight Kettle

Takegoshi TY-8320 2724ao

Features
  • Country of origin: Japan
  • Capacity: 2 liters
  • Dimensions: 8.2 x 8.2 x 5.7 inches, 1.46 lbs

More features: gas stove compatible; hammered copper

The Takegoshi TY-8320 2724ao provides something at the other end of the spectrum to some of the copper tea kettles we’ve already reviewed. It offers a very affordable option and for a 2 liter capacity kettle, it can give you plenty of quality.

In spite of the fact it is cheaper the finish is pretty great, with hammered, high quality copper. It also has a wooden handle on the top to allow you to take it off the heat when you are ready to do so.

This can be used on any gas stove, but be careful as some people have reported the bottom getting damaged if high heats are used.

Another unique thing about this (well, unique to our list anyway) is the fact that it is from Japan. Not many kettles are imported from japan, but the quality of copper shouldn’t be questioned. This is no cheap asian import, and it is up there with the quality of copper some other models have to offer.

This model of kettle doesn’t whistle, so if you are looking for a silent option this could be for you.

Why did it make our list?
  • Good for people who want silent kettles
  • Good capacity of 2 liters
What is not ideal about it?
  • Not as decorative as some of the others
  • The bottom of the kettle can get damaged on high heats

Things to Consider

Have you only used plastic kettles before? Not used to models that go on top of the stove rather than just plugging in and boiling water as a separate appliance? We’ve provided this buying guide to help you to choose the ideal model for your own needs. You can work out the budget you have available and the features you are looking for, before you make the final choice on which is most suitable for you.

Benefits of using copper tea kettles?

5 Best Copper Tea Kettles - Old-Fashioned TeaWhy use copper tea kettles? What is the point? What are the benefits of copper kettles as opposed to plastic and other materials?

Many people trust copper kettles over other materials. It is less likely that they will develop limescale or react to whatever you put in the kettle (such as water). Some plastic kettles have been linked to illnesses as a result of the fact that materials can build up inside.

Copper tea kettles definitely look a lot better than most other kettles. If you are looking for a rustic and old-style kitchen, then you want a kettle to match. Sticking an ugly plastic appliance in there is not going to do the job when it comes to looks.

Copper kettles can also be more flexible in terms of their size, and they are a good option if you want something to use on the stove. Kettles are a great way to avoid having to use an extra power supply. They can also be used on camping stoves if you wish.

Features to consider while choosing a copper tea kettle

What are the top features to consider if you are looking to buy a copper tea kettle? How do you differentiate a good model from a bad one? In this section we are reviewing the features you should think about before you choose your copper tea kettle.

Country of origin

What country does the kettle come from? Traditionally, many of the best tea kettles come from Turkey in Europe. The Turkish design dates back many hundreds of years. Many people associate tea with England (anyone who’s been there knows that the English love to drink tea) and there are some English models out there. The Simplex Kettles Buckingham is one of the most sturdy and robust options on the list.

Some of the cheaper kettles on the list come from the US or are imported from China.

Capacity, material thickness and inner layer

5 Best Copper Tea Kettles - Old-Fashioned TeaCapacity is a pretty self-explanatory feature. If you need to cater for a lot of people then you are going to need a big kettle. If you are just looking for a model that is suitable for you and your partner then you can go for a small option such as our value pick, the CopperBull Hammered Copper Tea Pot Kettle.

The thickness of the material should also be considered. If you are looking for a model that is durable and can last you years then you want a thick model of kettle. Our editor’s choice, the DEMMEX 2019 Handmade Turkish Copper Tea Pot is a 1mm thick model and the manufacturer guarantees the quality. If you have any doubts they’ll let you drill through to check the thickness and get a replacement model. A thick model can mean a far better quality piece of kit, with some kettles even lasting decades rather than just years.

The inner layer is often different and may be something like nickel, this can allow the kettle more protection and stop it from reacting with the water within. These coatings are popular and can stop your water getting tainted while it is being boiled.

Warranty

Many of the top models don’t come with a warranty, this is just the way many kettles are. The Simplex Kettles Buckingham comes with a one year warranty, so has been named our best option based on this. If you want to protect your purchase, look out for a product with a longer warranty.

Dimensions

Dimensions are an important thing to look at. Obviously, the bigger the kettle in terms of capacity, the bigger it tends to be in terms of dimensions. Think about how much space you have for storage, and whether you can choose a kettle that suits your kitchen. Also, think about whether it will fit properly on your stove.

Ease of use

The copper tea kettle you buy should be easy to use. Look at how simple it is to fill and how easy it is to heat up on your stove. Most of them are very simple in terms of operation.

Extra features

Are any extra features included? Some of the options on the list have a whistling function to allow you to know when the kettle is boiled. Others avoid this whistling to ensure that it is quiet. You should choose the option that best suits you.

The features of these sorts of kettles tend to be very basic, but that is all you need out of your kettle.

Price

How much should you be looking to spend? How much should you need to spend to get a decent kettle? The price can vary hugely. Some of the models on this list are around the $50 mark but you can pay many hundreds.

The thing to evaluate is how long the kettle is likely to last you. Some of these products advertise as being able to last generations, not just a few years. It is a case of finding value for your money.

Copper tea kettle maintenance

Looking after your copper tea kettle should be easy. After a few uses, you can soak it in warm water with soap. You should make sure you use a soap that won’t damage the kettle, something very mild and no bleach. Once you’ve let this soak, you just need to rinse it out. You can also use cloths to dry it out. Don’t use brushes as these can scratch the copper.
